Material:

  • Clock
  • Paper
  • Pencil

Activity Description:

  • Divide the students into groups of four and provide each group with a clock having the arms of minutes and the hours.
  • Tell students to set their clock at 12:00. Direct them to use their individual clocks to display a right angle. Ask them where the hands would be on the clock (12 and 3)
  • Ask students to repeat for straight angle, obtuse and acute angle.
  • Instruct students to take a plain paper and fold it into four sections. Let the sections be acute, right, straight and obtuse. Ask them to use their clock to create at least 8 examples of each different type of an angle and record angles as they are defined. (Example: straight angle: 12 and 6)
