Straws and Pairs of lines

Learning objective: Identify the angles formed by two lines and transversal.

 

 

Duration: 15 min

 

 

 

Material:

  • Straws
  • Glue
  • Pencil
  • Ruler

 

Activity Description:

  • Divide your students into groups of four and provide each group with 24 straws. 6 straws per student.
  • Ask students to use straws to model two parallel lines then use another straw to cut the two parallel straws
  • Angles formed by a transversal form the figure shown using the same straws.=> Have students identify the transversal as the line that cuts the two parallel lines.=> Conclude that we obtained a set of angles.
