Activity Description:

• For this activity, ask students to research about the elevations of mountains peaks in the world as well as the depth of some valleys. Students will be expected to bring the pictures and information with them to the class.

• In class, the teacher will draw a segment on the board and mark its middle by sea level (0 height).

• Ask students to stick the pictures on the number line on the board according to their elevation level or depth.
• Teacher will discuss the differences between below sea level and above sea level.

 

 

Above sea level is the opposite of below sea level

• Top-bottom
• Increase – decrease
• Forward – backward
• Positive – negative
